About Kari Mitchell
The Story Behind Life Beyond Long COVID
For more than a decade, I’ve helped women reconnect with their bodies’ ability to heal.
Through Healing Invisible Illness, I worked with women facing complex, hard-to-name conditions, the ones that didn’t fit neatly into medical boxes. Those years taught me something essential: a woman’s body is never “broken.” It’s responding. It’s communicating. And when we learn how to listen to the whole system — the physiology, the emotions, the stored survival responses — profound shifts can happen.
During the pandemic, I stepped into the world of business systems and operations, studying how structure, feedback, and flow bring stability to chaos. I quickly saw the parallels: the same principles that restore balance in complex systems can also restore balance in the human body.
At the same time, my work was deeply influenced by somatic trauma pioneers like Dr. Peter Levine, whose book Waking the Tiger helped me understand how unresolved survival energy stays stored in the body. Long illness isn’t just viral; it’s physiological, emotional, and protective. And until the nervous system feels safe enough to complete those old survival responses, the body can’t fully return to repair.
Today, through Life Beyond Long COVID, I bring these worlds together — the practical and the intuitive, the analytical and the energetic. My work helps women with Long COVID and post-viral conditions calm their body’s overdrive response, unwind the survival energy they’ve been carrying, and rebuild from the inside out with steady, attuned support.
What Informs My Work
This approach is grounded in emerging research across neurophysiology, post-viral recovery, somatic regulation, and trauma-resolution, integrating insights from:
Autonomic nervous system + polyvagal theory — how safety cues restore healing
Mitochondrial and metabolic repair research — how energy systems recover after stress
Energy medicine + body-based awareness practices — reconnecting brain and body communication
Somatic trauma frameworks (Peter Levine, Pat Ogden, Gabor Maté) — understanding how stored survival energy shapes symptoms and recovery
(For those who like to go deeper, this work aligns with frameworks from Dr. Stephen Porges, Dr. Robert Naviaux, and Dr. Peter Levine — all translated here into practical tools your body can understand.).
